This new hugger for the GS is mounted direct to the bevel drive, with a method that was pioneered by Ilmberger on the hugger for the K1200S and K1200R. This mounting has now been patented. This hugger is significantly larger than both the previous versions of the earlier hugger and so there is now only one version to cover both the 'normal' GS and the Adventure. This hugger will fit a 2008 model year bike that is not fitted with ESA. Bikes with ESA require a slightly different hugger.
